Bridal dress photography sessions began as a Southern tradition in which the bride takes some beautiful portraits other than the usual wedding photography in her full wedding dress – as well as hairdo, bouquet, makeup, veil and of course jewelry – before the wedding day.
Usually, a portrait of the bridal session is exhibited beside the wedding cake at the reception. In most cases, the portrait can also be gifted to the bride’s mother, while other miniature photos of the session can be given to the groom and bride’s father after the wedding.
The bridal session can be a great way to practice for the wedding day and try out the outfits to be used, it is also one of the rare moments a lady gets to look beautiful and sophisticated just to take wonderful photos of herself.
Additionally, the bridal session can help make subtle adjustments to the wedding dresses. Most brides discover that their wedding gown doesn’t quite fit them perfectly, or their shoes are too tight, or the makeup isn’t good enough, or their hairdo is uncomfortable only on their bridal sessions and can make the necessary adjustments before the day of the wedding.
A lot of brides have a trial run of their makeup, bridal store and hairdo anyway, why waste the opportunity to capture your beauty.
Having a bridal portrait session with the wedding photographer before your wedding can benefit you in a number of ways. Obviously you get some beautiful portraits.
But more importantly and your photographer will have the opportunity to work together on your preferences at the photography studio before your wedding. It will also help your photographer understand your personality better and time the photos perfectly.
Also bridal photo sessions are not restricted to the wedding venue so you can pick anywhere you want and do the things you would not be able to do on your main day. Wedding days are usually very busy and emotional you will be able to take a few photos, but you won’t be afforded the freedom offered by a bridal session.
Aside from photography bridal photo sessions present a good opportunity to not only test the aesthetic quality of your hair and makeup but also the durability.
It should be noted that most vendor packages don’t include bridal portraits, so you might need to spend a little more money than expected but the benefits well worth it. On a final note, be sure to have a bridal photo session and not just that but have fun while you’re at it.
